Font Tips for Business Card Printing

When you are planning a business card printing project, the fonts you use are very important because of the focus on text in business cards. The fonts you use enhance your cards and make them more attractive and memorable to the people you hand them out to. With this in mind, here are some tips for choosing a font that is right for your cards.

Be Aware of the Masculine or Feminine Look to a Font
Some fonts have sharp, angular lines, and others have a more curved, delicate shape. There are also several fonts that are neutral, such as Times New Roman. If you have a business that serves women primarily, you might want to choose a more feminine font style for your business card printing. Some examples are Chaucer and Coronet. If, on the other hand, you cater mostly to men, you will probably need a more masculine font, like Chicago or Impact.

Choose Fonts that Fit Your Personality
You do not have much room on a business card to make an impression, so use every element to convey the impression you want. If you and your business are playful, you might choose a childlike font or even a cartoon font. If you have a more serious business, you should stick to something more traditional.

Make Sure the Fonts are Easy to Read
When choosing your fonts, do not sacrifice readability for style. While fancy fonts look cool and stand out, if people cannot read your text, then you have wasted time and money on a useless business card printing.

Use Separate Fonts for Your Name and Contact Info
Help your name to stand out by printing it in a different font than your other information. You should have one font style for your logo that is consistent on all your marketing materials. Use another for your name and a third for the rest. If you have more than three, your card will look chaotic.

Put the Words with the Most Draw in a Noticeable Font
If you are a local celebrity, your name should be the largest, most obvious element on your card. If your business is more of a draw to customers, then make your logo the most prominent. Most likely your tag line will be another area you want to emphasize. Your tag line is the phrase under your logo that tells people why they should do business with you; make sure you condense this message into eight words or less and use an interesting font.
